Dr Gokcay completed his medical studies in Adelaide before moving for Anaesthetic training at the John Hunter Hospital. This time in Newcastle was followed by work with CareFlight; retrieving patients from rural & remote settings in the Northern Territory & transporting them to Darwin & interstate hospitals.  Returning to dedicated anaesthetic practice, he continued to work in rural & regional centres along the east coast of Australia before returning to Newcastle & undertaking an appointment at Maitland Public Hospital & the Lower Hunter Valley.  In addition to this work, a growing private practice incorporating Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Obstetrics, & Gynaecology keeps him caring for a broad patient population including children, the elderly & the emergency patient.
